Michel Samson says he believes Nova Star Cruises will be able to weather a challenging startup year.

The ferry has been out of service since Tuesday to allow Nova Star Cruises to replace a marine evacuation system that it borrowed with its own one.

The company was required to activate its own system, which includes an inflatable chute and four life-rafts, during an inspection last month by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The ferry service re-establishing a marine link between Nova Scotia and the northeastern U.S. only resumed two weeks ago.

The ferry is scheduled to return to service later Thursday.
