TORONTO – Toronto’s newest park, on the site of the old Don Jail, needs a name – and the city is trying to figure out the proper moniker.
City Councillor Paula Fletcher is reportedly leading a panel to determine the park’s name and has received names that play to the site’s penal history including “Gallows Park,” “Hangman’s Haunt,” “Retribution Park” and “Sinister Park,” according to the Toronto Star.

Turpin-Lucas Park: Why not name the park after the last two people to be hanged at the jail gallows as was suggested by a resident according to The Star.
